With the confinement and the curfew, it’s hard to manage everything and find time to go to the hairdresser. After giving you some tips to refresh your hairstyle yourself, the editor is back with their 5 tips to naturally lighten your hair. All without leaving your bathroom. Ready? Let’s go !

1 – Stop using chemicals to lighten hair

“But finally The Body Optimist, why offer us natural alternatives when you just have to go to the beauty section of our supermarket to find dozens of boxes of hair color?“. Well quite simply, because nature is well made and you don’t need to use chemicals to lighten your hair.

Most of the stains available on the market containammonia and various chemicals who attack and weaken the hair fiber. Especially since we don’t necessarily have an ultra hydrating treatment at home to compensate for this effect. Race results: in the long run, our hair is weakened and dull. Exactly the reverse of the expected result.

2 – Baking soda, for already colored hair

Please note, this tip is for those who already have colored hair or highlights, the trick does not work on natural hair that we would like to lighten. The baking soda is going to have a disgorging effect on color or strands and therefore, allow us to gain a few tones towards the clearer.

Be careful, however: the baking soda can be very corrosive and burn the scalp if left on for too long or that it is used too often. The trick? Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with your regular shampoo. Massage of course the entire length, leave on for two minutes on top time and rinse thoroughly. Do not do it too regularly, otherwise your hair will dry out..

2 – lemon and apple

One of the most well-known tips to lighten your hair naturally is to mix fresh lemon juice with water and spray this mixture on her hair. Then, stay at least an hour in the sun to dry it. Be careful, because this may dry out your hair if it is already naturally fragile.

Celebrity colourist Aura Friedman shares a tip in Teen Vogue : mix a little lemon juice in its conditioner or in coconut oil. Then do pose as a mask. This way, we lighten the hair and hydrate it at the same time.

Rachel Bodt, also a colorist, recommends two mixtures-masks to make at home. The first one, a mixture of 1/5 of cider vinegar with 5/6 of water before leaving for 30 minutes then rinse. The second : crush a few vitamin C tablets, mix them with water and spray it all over the hair. Here, rinsing is not necessary.
