7 mistakes to avoid with your hair

Without realizing it, our hair is subjected to a lot of daily abuse. DESSANGE presents to you the 7 most common mistakes to avoid making in order to regain healthy hair!

Wash them every day

Many people have washed their hair on a daily basis, mostly for fear that the hair will look greasy / dirty. Fatal error ! Washing your hair too regularly is a vicious circle. In fact, the more you wash them, the faster they become fatty, develop dandruff and get damaged at the ends.
But know that it’s never too late to break this bad routine and get your hair used to washing more frequently. While the first few weeks may be a bit difficult, the time for the body to balance itself and for the sebaceous glands which produce sebum to regulate themselves.
While waiting for the next wash, feel free to use a few dry shampoo sprays.
You can also use a rebalancing treatment that will help you free yourself up as you wash too regularly.

Using too hot water when washing

There are many misconceptions about the temperature of the water to use for washing hair. Washing your hair in too hot water will tend to damage it. Indeed, the heat of the water will open the scales of the hair with the risk of increasing its porosity and therefore making it drier and brittle. Cold water is not very effective against grease and residues (and is not very pleasant). Your hair will therefore be cleansed but less in depth. The best solution is therefore to cut the pear in half: rinse your hair with lukewarm water, in order to avoid extremes which are never good and thus minimize the risks on your hair.

Keep the same shampoo

Even if your hair “gets used” to shampooing, that doesn’t mean it is no longer working. And if this is the case, it mainly means that your hair problem has changed. Indeed, just like your skin, your hair changes over time. It is therefore not uncommon to have to replace your shampoo according to this evolution (pregnancy, climatic conditions etc.) In this case, it is advisable to change shampoo by finding the one adapted to your needs as soon as you observe a change.
If you ever have 2 hair problems to treat at the same time, nothing prevents you from alternating 2 different formulas to meet all the needs of your hair (for example a shampoo to give you volume + a treatment for dry hair).

Apply your mask / conditioner to poorly towel-dried hair

The care to be used after shampooing must be applied to well-towel-dried hair. If your hair is still full of water when it is time to receive its treatment, it will not penetrate the hair fiber properly and your mask / conditioner will then be much less effective. The ideal is therefore to gently pre-dry your hair using a dry towel, in order to prepare them as well as possible for the treatment.

Brush your hair from the roots

Taking care of your hair with masks is good, but above all, it is essential to take care of their well-being as soon as they are brushed. Indeed, many of us abuse our hair by brushing it from root to tip. However, it is advisable to first untangle the ends to avoid creating knots at mid-length and risk breaking the hair fiber.

Badly cleaning brushes

Removing the hair from the brush is an essential step for each brushing. But this is not enough ! It is also very important to clean them very regularly to remove the remains of sebum, dust, encrusted hair or chemical residues present in styling products and which are deposited with each brush stroke. Remember, if your brushes and combs are greasy, so will your hair.
For an effective cleaning, no need to make complicated: water and soap / or shampoo are sufficient!
For the more fussy, you can also soak your brushes and combs in water mixed with white vinegar or baking soda.

Sleeping with wet hair

To have healthy hair, you must start by drying it well! Indeed, when our hair is wet, their scales open to the maximum, which weakens the hair fiber. This will be all the more weakened during the night with the friction against your pillow or your neck.
Beyond your hair health, sleeping with wet hair is also not recommended for your physical health. During your sleep, the cold and wet lengths will rest on your neck and your neck which can promote stiff necks and headaches. In addition, the dampness of the sheets can also contribute to the development of bacteria and thus cause yeast infection and irritation.

Some final tips to finish:

  • Eat a good diet and a healthy lifestyle to promote the beauty of your hair
  • Protect them during intense exposure to the sun
  • Sleep with your hair tied to avoid tangles
