Sydney, 2022-01-11 13:26:00. A Saskatoon boy with a brain tumor meets his superhero, The Rock
A Saskatoon boy diagnosed with a rare pediatric brain tumor has met his hero.
Five-year-old Jet Reese had a video call with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson about three weeks ago.
In a recent Instagram post, Johnson said chatting was the best part of his day.
“Thank you very much for giving me the time to say hello and meet you,” he said to Jett.
In the post, the actor and former wrestler described Jett as strong, calm and brave, and he’d endured 30 rounds of radiation without sedation.
“This little kid looks at me like a superhero. He thinks I’m brave and strong and funny and cute. I might be some of those things, but at the moment I’m talking to him, I don’t know. But what I do know is that this little kid is a lot stronger, braver, and kinder than I’d be ever.”
Jet has metastatic pontine glioma, for which there is no cure. According to Johnson, Jet has the ability to speak but understands conversations and uses his thumb or thumb to respond.
Johnson said he talks to many children and adults who are fighting for their lives – he is usually able to “keep himself together”, this time being too emotional to speak and could only muster an “I’m sorry”.
“This FaceTime call was made three weeks ago, and as soon as I hung up on this call, I would hop on a plane back home in time to put my little girl, Jazzy to bed. It was her birthday. She was the same age as Jett. I think that’s Which is why all this hit me.
“I don’t know why things like this happen the way they do. I just don’t know. But, it was an honor to speak to Jett and his family. I am in awe of his courage and strength of his parents, Larissa and Manny.”
“Thank you everyone for reading this, saying a little prayer and sending positive vibes the Geet way.”
