L.A, 2022-01-14 13:49:15. Alec Baldwin Will Turn Over Cell Phone In Investigation On Film Set Film: Lawyer

Alec Baldwin’s attorney said Thursday that the actor will hand over his cell phone as part of an investigation into the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the western set of “Rust,” but New Mexico police said they have not yet done so. to receive the device.

Baldwin’s attorney, Aaron Dyer, said he reached an agreement with New Mexico state authorities to hand over the phone after taking steps to protect the actor’s privacy regarding matters unrelated to the Rust investigation.

“Mr. Baldwin’s phone is being turned over this week for review,” Dyer said in a statement. “Mr Baldwin has continued to cooperate with the authorities, and any suggestion otherwise is simply incorrect.”

The comments came after a news release Thursday from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office saying that Baldwin did not comply with a search warrant requiring him to turn over the phone and that the New Mexico attorney general is now working with the actor’s attorney to obtain it.

“So far, the cell phone has not been handed over to the authorities,” the press release read.

The Santa Fe investigator leading the “Rust” investigation obtained a search warrant in December to examine text messages, emails and other information on Aldwin’s Apple iPhone.

The investigator said she requested the warrant as suspects, victims and witnesses who “often make and/or receive phone calls and/or letters before, during, and/or after the commission of the crime(s)”.

Baldwin said he was carrying a gun in the film when it set out during rehearsal in October, shooting a live tour that killed cinematographer Helena Hutchins.

Baldwin said in a television interview that he did not pull the trigger and denied responsibility for the shooting.

The New Mexico attorney general overseeing the case said that some of the people who handled weapons in the group could face criminal charges in connection with Hutchins’ death.
