LOS ANGELES – Betty White died of a stroke she suffered six days before her death on December 31 at the age of 99, according to her death certificate.
The beloved “Golden Girls” and “Mary Tyler Moore Show” actress died at her home in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles as a result of a cerebral vascular accident on December 25, the medical term for a stroke, according to a Los Angeles County death certificate obtained Monday by The Associated Press. The document lists White’s legal name as Betty Marion Louden. She took the last name of her husband Allen Lowden, with whom she was married from 1963 until his death in 1981.

White, whose comedic story and absolute magic of anything has made her a mainstay of television for over 60 years and celebrated by several generations of fans, died less than three weeks before her 100th birthday.
