L.A, 2022-01-04 13:34:02. French Bogdanov twins die of COVID-19 within days of each other
The lawyer of the two brothers confirmed to CNN, Tuesday, the death of the French TV star Igor Bogdanov, six days after the death of his twin brother Grichka from the same disease.
Maitrey Edouard de Lamaze said the twins’ relatives had informed him of the death of the twins.
“They died from COVID-19,” he told CNN. “Both were in the same hospital, and Grichka died six days earlier than Igor.”
He said they had been at Georges Pompidou Hospital since December 15 after contracting COVID-19 in November. Igor Bogdanov died on Monday and Grishka Bogdanov died last Tuesday.
De Lamaze said it was “so sad to see these two men who loved each other so much, were so happy, so kind, and so authentic.”
He added that the two brothers were in good health before contracting COVID-19.
The brothers were famous in France, not least because of their unusual facial features. Outside of France, they are best known for appearing in a viral cryptocurrency meme.
The Bogdanovs began their careers in France by hosting popular TV shows about science and science fiction, including “Temps X” (Time X in English) and “Rayons X” (X Rays). “They had answers,” de Lamaze said of the two and their interest in science. Simple to big problems and…they had answers that were accessible to the general public.”
Igor Bogdanov received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Burgundy, and Grishka also received his Ph.D. from the same school. The twins also published dissertations in physics at HAL – an open archive that allows authors to “deposit scientific documents from all academic fields,” according to their website.
However, the validity of these papers was questioned by scholars who questioned their academic work. In 2003, the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) requested that researchers review the twins’ theses, according to French newspaper Le Monde.
