Sydney, 2021-12-13 10:45:21. From Armani to Zegna, 22 Milan brands are planning live shows on the runway
Milan Fashion Council announced on Monday that previews of Milan’s menswear fall-winter 2021-22 will return to a mostly in-person format in January, with Zegna, Giorgio Armani, Fendi and Prada among 22 brands organizing live fashion shows.
The head of the National Italian Chamber of Fashion, Carlo Capasa, said the success of the women’s clothing calendar in September, with more than 40 live previews of the runway, indicates that “runway shows can be safely organized through social distancing and face masks.”
“We have to be very careful. The epidemic is still here,” Capasa said at a digital press conference.
Italy has seen the number of new coronavirus cases rise in recent weeks, but hospitalizations remain below critical thresholds.
The January 14-18 calendar also includes 24 in-person presentations, with only nine brands selected to present digitally. London-based JW Anderson is among six brands that will make their debut on the Milan catwalk.
The confirmation of the Milan calendar comes just days after the British Fashion Council announced that the January menswear shows will not continue due to COVID and that they will be merged with the womenswear calendar in February.
