Jada Pinkett Smith has lifelong ideas she’d like to share.
The actor, singer, entrepreneur, and co-host of the Facebook Watch “Red Table Talk” has a deal for what Dey Street Books calls “honest and engaging memoirs” covering her “complicated marriage to Will Smith,” among other topics. The book is currently untitled and is due out next fall.
“Jada Pinkett Smith chronicles lessons learned in the context of a challenging but exciting journey—a serpentine journey from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of rediscovering character and a celebration of authentic feminine strength,” reads the Thursday announcement from Day Street, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing.
According to the ad, Pinkett Smith will narrate her “unconventional upbringing in Baltimore,” her friendship with late rapper Tupac Shakur, her love story with Smith and her experiences with motherhood.
“In a crisis at the age of 40, Jada recounts the painful choices she had to make to redefine her life in every way,” the publisher said.
Known for films like “Collateral” and “The Matrix Reloaded,” as well as being outspoken about her battles with depression and the hair-loss disorder alopecia areata, Pinkett Smith, 51, is the source of Chris Rock’s infamous joke at this year’s Academy Awards.
When the comedian likened her shaven head to Demi Moore’s look in “GI Jane,” Will Smith — who published his own bestselling memoir last year — stunned the world by going from his front-row seat to the stage and slapping Rock.
Pinkett Smith spoke about the slap two months later, on an episode of Red Table Talk, saying the incident prompted thousands to connect with her through their own experiences with alopecia areata. She also said that she hopes that these two intelligent and capable men will have the opportunity to heal and talk about it and reconcile.
