“And Just Like That…” shocked fans during the first episode.
The reboot of HBO’s hit show “Sex and the City” is back on screen with a much-anticipated reunion Thursday. HBO Max, as CNN is part of WarnerMedia
The show was cast again with the characters, Carrie Bradshaw [Sarah Jessica Parker]Miranda Hobbs [Cynthia Nixon] and Charlotte York [Kristin Davis]Minus Samantha Jones [Kim Cattrall]who chose not to return.
She was also a fan favorite again, Mr. Big [Chris Noth]Evan Handler, David Egenberg, Mario Cantone and the late Willie Garson, who died in September.
Shockingly, however, Mr. Page’s character is killed off in the first episode. He saw his Peloton ride, then had a heart attack. Many viewers were in a daze, turning to social media to blast the show for such a tragic way to kick off the reboot.
A Peloton representative even responded to the unexpected story in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
“SATC fans, like me, are saddened by the news of Mr. Page’s death of a heart attack,” Dr. Susan Steinbaum, a member of the Peloton Health and Wellness Advisory Board and a preventive cardiologist, told the Los Angeles Times. “Mr. Page led what many call an extravagant lifestyle – including cocktails, cigars, and big-box steaks – and was in grave danger because he had suffered a previous heart attack in season six.”
“These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which is often an important factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton bike may have helped delay his exposure to heart disease,” Steinbaum added.
“Sex and the City” premiered in 1998, based on the book by Candice Bushnell and ran for six seasons. He produced two films and a TV show called “The Carrie Diaries”.
And “Just Like That” will consist of 10 episodes.
