New York, 2022-11-21 10:02:41. Taylor Swift once again dominates the American Music Awards

Los Angeles –

Singer-songwriter superstar Taylor Swift won all six awards she was competing for Sunday at the American Music Awards, including top prize of the night: Female Artist of the Year.

The new AMA Awards brought Swift’s lifetime total to 40, breaking her own record for most wins at the world’s largest awards ceremony.

The “Anti-Hero” singer, who was wearing a sparkly gold bodysuit, said that fan support in recent years has encouraged her to write more music, which has made her happier.

“I have my fans that I basically thank for making me happy,” Swift said to a crowd of fans at the concert in Los Angeles.

She added, “I can’t express how amazing it is that I still do this and that you still care.”

The 32-year-old has released four original albums and two re-recordings in the past three years, more than her entire output in the previous decade. The songs from her latest album, “Midnights,” made all of the top 10 spots on the Billboard singles chart after debuting in October.

In her multiple acceptance speeches on Sunday, Swift didn’t mention the glitches that held up Ticketmaster sales for her upcoming tour last week, prompting the company to apologize to her on Friday.

Other accolades Swift took home Sunday included Favorite Pop Album, Country Album and the video for her re-recording of 2012’s “Red.” The singer has been recreating albums from her past due to a falling out with her former record company.

For artist of the year, Swift triumphed over massive names including Beyonce, Harry Styles, The Weeknd, Drake, Adele, and Bad Bunny, who went into the night with a leading eight nominations. The Puerto Rican rapper and singer took home two awards, for Favorite Latin Male Artist and Favorite Latin Album for “Un Verano Sin Ti.”

Pop singer Pink opened the AMA dancing and singing on her roller skates to her upbeat song “Never Dance Again.” Later in the ceremony, she performed “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” a tribute to Olivia Newton-John, the “Grease” singer who passed away in August.

Musician Lionel Richie, known for “All Night Long” and other ’80s hits, was celebrated with an AMA Icon Award. Stevie Wonder and Charlie Puth performed a medley of Richie’s songs on dueling piano.

Dove Cameron, the former Disney Channel actress who hit the Billboard charts this year with pop single “Boyfriend,” has been named Best New Artist.

Comedian and host Wayne Brady sang his monologue at the start of the show. “No one gets slapped tonight,” Brady joked, referring to Will Smith’s infamous attack on Chris Rock at the Academy Awards.
