London –

The Crown, the popular Netflix series about Queen Elizabeth II and her family, has temporarily halted production due to the king’s death.

A spokesperson for the series said production was halted on Friday “as a sign of respect” and would also be suspended on the day of the Queen’s funeral.

The show is in production in its sixth season. Her first two seasons starred Claire Foy as a young Princess Elizabeth ascending to the throne and gradually growing into her role as queen, and seasons three and four featuring Olivia Colman as a more mature queen. The show gradually got closer to current events. Netflix recently revealed the cast of the cast to play Prince William and his wife Kate in Season 6.

Season 5, in which Imelda Staunton plays the Queen, will premiere in November.

The show has garnered 22 Emmy Awards to date, including Outstanding Dramatic Series and Best Dramatic Actress honoring Foy and Coleman. Josh O’Connor, who played Prince Charles in 13 episodes, also won a Best Dramatic Actor Emmy for his portrayal of the future king as a young man.
