The trends of the Cannes Film Festival 2018
?
On the eve of the 71st edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the Maison DESSANGE – Official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for over 30 years– gives you a preview of the hairstyle trends that will “trample” the Steps of the Marches.
DESSANGE has been supporting the stars of the Festival since 1958
Our link with this prestigious 7th art event began in the 1950s, when our Maison unofficially supported celebrities and rising stars of cinema by providing them with the know-how and expertise of its hairdressers.
Years later, when partnerships begin to emerge and when the reputation of the Cannes Film Festival is well established, DESSANGE becomes the first and only Official Hairdressing Partner.
From then on, a team of studio hairdressers flies each month of May to the Croisette to accompany the stars during the fortnight by providing them with DESSANGE excellence and elegance, signatures of our House.
Did you know ?
In the 1950s, Corinne de Boissière, mother of Benjamin Dessange and then press secretary to Brigitte Bardot, was convinced of the importance of bringing glamor and dreams to the Festival. Shortly afterwards, she took with her a DESSANGE hairdresser from the famous Champs-Elysées salon to show off the stars.

Hairstyle trends of the Cannes Film Festival 2018
The Red Carpet of the Cannes Film Festival is the moment most awaited by the public and cameras around the world: we discover the stars at their best, dressed in the most beautiful designer outfits and makeup to perfection. For Maison DESSANGE, it is a question of expressing all the elegance and French refinement, by creating hairstyles and ties that correspond with each look and personality.
Claudia Zocco, DESSANGE tie and bun expert, and Alexandre Reboul, DESSANGE studio hairdresser, are previewing the Hairdressing Capsule Collection for this 71st edition of the Festival, designed to “truster” the Montées des Marches.
The ‘Mixed braids’ imagined by Claudia Zocco
Also called “Contrasting Braids”, this trendy hairstyle is easy to wear in spring and summer. It consists of 2 mixed braids: one is done upside down so that it is stuck to the scalp. The other is looser and looks like a spiky braid that frames the first. Summery, this trend takes the idea of the classic braid and brings sophistication and style.
The ‘plaqué parilé’ imagined by Claudia Zocco
The simple and perfect expression of glamor expressed in a hairstyle. Add to that a touch of casualness with iron-worked strands to give them the desired volume and wave. An elegant contrast to twist as you wish.
The ‘Twisted side ponytail’ imagined by Alexandre Reboul
We loved it this winter, it is back on the catwalks more elegant than ever. This ultra-modern side twisted ponytail is halfway between the banana bun twist and the off-center ponytail. Both glamorous and sensual, it will easily sublimate all faces.
The ‘Blurred bun’ imagined by Alexandre Reboul
What would a red carpet be without this irresistibly timeless hairstyle? This blurry, delicately braided bun single-handedly embodies the elegance of simplicity. The light material and the subtly disheveled effect create an airy spirit.
